WHO KILLED NANCY?

SHORT SYNOPSIS

On October 12th 1978 New York Police discovered the lifeless body of a 20-year-old woman, slumped under the bathroom sink in a hotel room. She was dressed in her underwear and had bled to death from a stab wound. The woman was Nancy Spungen, an ex-prostitute, sometimes stripper, heroin addict, and girlfriend of Sex Pistols’ bassist Sid Vicious. In a trial by tabloid newspapers, Vicious was pronounced guilty before noon the following day. But the case never had the chance to be brought to trial, and a number of New York cops weren’t convinced.

Less than six months later in a flat in New York’s Greenwich Village, Sid, himself aged only 21, died of a heroin overdose. For the next 28 years the assumption was that Sid did it – case closed.

Over time, the death of Sid and Nancy has passed into rock legend and has only added to the controversial and notorious image of the Sex Pistols and punk music. At the request of Sid’s mother, who committed suicide in 1996, rock author and punk expert Alan Parker has devoted himself to discovering what really happened in room 100. Parker has re-interviewed 182 people, re-examined NYPD evidence, and gone back to his original interviews with Sid’s mother.

Writer/Director: Alan G. SHORT SYNOPSIS

Mute slave HARALD escapes his Scottish masters with the help of 10-year-old ARE, torturing and killing them before joining a band of dispossessed Vikings. They go to sea, determined to return to Scandinavia to fight the spread of Christianity, but for HARALD the journey is also a personal one to discover his own origins. Caught in a terrible storm, the group drifts for 40 days until, on the verge of death, they find themselves in a freshwater river. The land seems at once strange yet familiar.

When they come under attack by unseen assailants, the groups’ quest for their homeland takes on a bitter urgency as one-by-one they succumb to the onslaught, dying at the hands of the Invisibles. Worse, they are no clearer about where they are or if this place even exists outside their imagination. Have they finally reached the new world or Valhalla?

Meanwhile, HARALDS’s search for identity is compromised when ARE is captured. As the enemy reveal themselves, HARALD realizes he has finally found his identity but at too high a price. As ARE’s life is threatened, HARALD is faced with an impossible choice; save the boy or save his soul?

COMES A BRIGHT DAY

SHORT SYNOPSIS

SAM SMITH is twenty-five, bright, ambitious, and not unattractive; so earning minimum wage as a bellboy at a 5* luxury hotel isn’t where he wants to be; running a restaurant with his best friend ELLIOT is. He has the people skills, the business plan, and the best young chef around, but with a chronic fear of rejection, he lacks those vital investors to make the dream a reality.

MARY BRIGHT is as radiantly beautiful as the jewelry she sells in Clara, London’s most discerning jewelers. But looks aren’t everything. For Mary life is about so much more than material wealth and she’s ready to turn her back on London and escape to the other side of the world.

When Sam meets Mary in the café where Elliott works he is very quick and very truly smitten. Every other plan and thought goes out of the window as he overcomes his fear of rejection and follows Mary back to Clara with the intention of asking her out on a date. Unbeknown to Sam, armed thieves CAMERON and CLEGG also have an appointment at Clara and aren’t planning on leaving without the two million pound Stahl Papillon brooch. With the panic button pressed and the armed response unit swarming into the area Sam, Mary, and belligerent elderly shop owner CHARLIE are taken, hostage.

Under extreme threat and with constant twists and turns, what follows puts each of the characters and their shortfalls under persistent examination. This is a love story that undergoes the severest trial and sacrifice. For all of them, searching for the hidden gem reveals truths that will make their lives infinitely richer.
